Experienced people for a good price: in the first half of the 1990s, this fact attracted the group ZF Sachs to Slovakia. It successfully set up a clutch production business in Trnava. The business was so successful that the company started to relocate additional production from expensive German and Austrian factories. In 2007, it confirmed its satisfaction with business conditions by setting up a new production facility in Levice. That is where also the production of mufflers was moved from Germany for the first time within the group. According to Peter Doll, executive director and board head of Trnava ZF Sachs Slovakia, the crisis will slow down the car parts manufacturing business for a moment, but this won’t discourage the German concern from investment activities in Slovakia. At the start of the 1990s, Slovakia existed incompletely on the world map of car and car parts manufacturers. This was changed by the arrival of the European leader Volkswagen. This company directed also renowned car component manufacturers into Slovakia, the German firm Fichtel & Sachs among the first.
